About Katie

Katie is a writer, actor and director from Wexford currently based in Dublin. She has a BA in English from UCD and graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting in 2013. She has appeared in numerous productions on both stage and screen including Windows 21 (Fighting Words at The Abbey Theatre), Vikings  (The History Channel), Brontë  (Illustrated Productions) and TRYST (Sickle Moon Productions).

Katie has written eight plays to date, including her play Cirque des Rêves which was published by Stinging Fly Press in 2019. She also wrote three episodes of the RTE and Tailored Films children's show Ace My Space which aired in November 2020. In 2021 Katie was accepted onto the Bewley’s Cafe Theatre New Writing Venture Percolate which culminated in a rehearsed reading of her play, The Lamentable Tale of Darkey Kelly, at the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2022. She was shortlisted for the  Phelim Donlon Playwright’s Bursary 2023. Her most recent play Of A Midnight Meeting premiered at Bewley’s Cafe Theatre in October 2023. 

Katie was a recipient of the Actor as Creator Scheme from which funded her first short film Darkey Kelly, which she wrote and directed. Darkey Kelly premiered at the Cork International Film Festival 2021 and went on to appear at numerous festivals in both Ireland and abroad. Her second short film script Púca was named Best Runner Up at the Waterford Film Festival 2021.
